Partnerships for Local Action and Community Engagement (PLACE)

From its launch phase, Social Change Projects (SCP) worked alongside PLACE to help translate an emerging vision for place‑based change into a clear, confident public narrative and operational footing. SCP supported PLACE in articulating its purpose, values and ambitions, developing early key messages that positioned PLACE as a national enabler of community‑led, place‑based approaches. This included shaping foundational communications, refining how PLACE described its role as a convenor and supporter of local initiatives, and ensuring its language reflected the diversity, specificity and strengths of local communities rather than imposing a one‑size‑fits‑all model. As PLACE moved from concept into active engagement, SCP played a central role in communications, stakeholder engagement and storytelling, particularly around the Listening Tour and Community Roadshow. SCP worked closely with PLACE staff to plan and coordinate sector and community communications, develop content for social and digital channels, and ensure that stories emerging from communities were shared accurately, respectfully and with local consent. This work supported PLACE to listen deeply, build relationships, and use community feedback to refine its strategic direction, while also building early visibility and credibility with funders, partners and the broader sector. Through to establishment, SCP continued to support PLACE’s organisational maturation, including the rollout of public‑facing platforms, coordination of regular communications, and the establishment of governance‑linked engagement structures such as the Community Council. SCP assisted with communications planning, content development and internal coordination as PLACE moved from an intensive listening and learning phase into a more established operating rhythm. This work helped PLACE consolidate its identity, embed accountability to communities, and transition from launch momentum into a sustainable, values‑driven organisation grounded in lived community experience and long‑term partnerships
