Social Change Projects (SCP) worked with the Save Sorry Business Campaign to help First Nations‑led advocates bring national attention to the exploitation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families by Youpla/ACBF and the regulatory failures that enabled it. SCP supported the development of clear, values‑driven messaging that centred the cultural significance of Sorry Business, elevated First Nations voices, and explained the scale and nature of the harm in accessible terms. This included drafting and refining briefing materials that documented the financial exploitation, its cultural impacts, and the principles required for a fair and culturally appropriate resolution, ensuring community perspectives were foregrounded in all advocacy efforts. As the campaign escalated, SCP provided strategic advocacy, media and coordination support to the Save Sorry Business Coalition, working alongside financial counsellors, community leaders and peak bodies. SCP helped plan and coordinate days of action, media releases and spokesperson engagement, supporting First Nations advocates to engage with Aboriginal and mainstream media, parliamentarians and decision‑makers. This work focused on maintaining message discipline, protecting cultural safety, and amplifying calls for urgent assistance and an enduring, culturally appropriate solution for people harmed by Youpla’s conduct. Through sustained engagement with government processes, SCP continued to support the campaign as it pressed for budget commitments and long‑term resolution measures. SCP assisted with ongoing media engagement, coalition coordination and political advocacy, including briefings and follow‑up with senior decision‑makers during critical budget and policy windows. This work helped ensure pressure was maintained on government to deliver a fair outcome shaped by First Nations leadership, while keeping community voices at the centre of public debate and policy development
